Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Brad C — 23 Sep 2009
Hilarious and strange. jerry lewis plays the straight guy (for the most part) and de niro's the moron comedian. the best part is probably de niro's final (only) monologue. the whole movie, he doesn't tell a single joke, and is just idiotic.
so at the end, when he's actually pretty good, it's just absolute movie magic. sandra bernhard is also very good and even more insane than de niro's character. one of scorsese's better films and likely his best comedy.
