Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Robin W — 19 Jul 2010
I do enjoy watching a movie about a person who is bat shit crazy, but I had difficulty this time around. I think it's because this case involves someone who is more delusional than crazy, and becomes a little uncomfortable to watch.
I really don't enjoy watching awkward moments. However, I focused my attention the cinematic approach, and I enjoyed it very much. Scorsese's direction is great, and De Niro's performance is top notch.
The movie is subtle and ironic and darkly humorous, and it's kind of against type for Scorsese. OVerall, it's a very good film, but only a minor note in Scorsese's career.
