Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Ralf L — 28 Aug 2010
I felt like this film is hard to describe... Rather than watching this movie as what it was intended to be, a comedy, I saw it for more of a heart breaking drama. It was surprisingly sad. Jerry Lewis delivers a great performance, you could feel his aggravation, discomfort around Pupkin, and his frustration (which deviates from his previous roles).
Robert De Niro was great as Rupert Pupkin, delivering dialogue that felt so real it was haunting... Over all it was a good movie... "better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime!"~Rupert Pupkin.
