Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Noah B — 14 Nov 2010
Martin Scorsese once said that was the best performance Robert De Niro gave him, and boy, was he right. De Niro, showing that he is a very versitile actor, plays a psycho wanna be comic who wants to be on Jerry Lewis' show.
He will do anything to get on the show. So he kidnaps Lewis and demands for him to be put on the show. Now, this is the horribe part. When he is doing his act on the show, he rarely gets a laugh, until he confesses that he kidnaped Lewis.
With that he becomes an overnight sensation. This movie is very awkward and yes, it is difficult to watch without having a sickening feeling, but you will be amazed.
