Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Ankush J — 27 Jan 2011
Better to be king for a night than schmuck for a lifetime.
In many ways it's like taxi driver. Probably scorsese's only attempt on comedy. It is wonderful. its not an lol comedy. it's neurotic and noir comedy. robret de niro doesn't even seem like himself - he looks, walks and talk like how a Rupert pupkin would. great performance.
In earlier part it might seem irritating but with time pupkin connects and makes you feel happy in the end of movie.
