Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Niki S — 23 Feb 2014
Scorsese's dark comedy about a wannabe Comedian (DeNiro) who also happens to be a completely delusional madman who believes himself to be the next great King of Comedy and wants his hero, a Late Night TV host Jerry Langford (Lewis), to launch his career.
..even if that means holding a gun to his head. This is a really entertaining movie, if you like a dark humor the way I do. DeNiro's performance as Rupert Pupkin is fantastic. You don't see him as a real loser too often.
Bernhard is also quite entertaining as Rupert's fellow Langford fanatic. Really funny with a really dark streak, a fun one for anyone who enjoys this brand of humor.
