Review of The King and I (1956) by Eliza H — 16 Jul 2008
"A man is like a butterfly, he flits from flower to flower." This film is absolutely charming even though some of its attitudes are outdated (eg.wise westerner shows easterner the error of his ways).
Yul Brynner is perfect as the arrogant king of Siam and Deborah Kerr as the prim Victorian lady. The songs are fabulous and as always with R&H a great message.
