Straight up, this was both disturbing and predictable. The trailer essentially gave away the whole plot and the story kept getting creepier by the minute. Without a doubt, Gyllenhaal's acting is exceptional, but it is eclipsed by the unfortunate downfall of her character.

I am able to take away Colangelo's point of how modern society bleeds away our creative beings and there are so few longing to nurture it. But this point can be made without passively portraying a very scary kidnapping.

At the very least it's desperate and irresponsible.
