Review of The Killing Room (2009) by Roxanne R — 05 Jul 2010
I am a sucker for psychological thrillers that explore and study the human mind..that places human beings in particular controlled scenarios/experiments to test them, to see how they would react, what they would do or say.
..well this is a good example of such statement. In the Killing Room we have four individuals that sign up for a psychological research study only to discover that they are now subjects of a brutal, classified government program.
A program by the way which was terminated by ex-presidents decades ago. I also like the characters of Clea Duvall and Chloe Sevigny who plays the role of Ms. Reilly, a military psychologist who begins questioning the ethics of such a diabolical experiment.
This one is tame compared to the SAW films in terms of violence. Moreover, the entire film basically takes place in the "killing room" or experimental room with four subjects (Timothy Hutton, Clea Duvall, Nick Cannon and Shea Whigham).
.as you watch the film and towards the end you begin to understand the real motives of Dr. Phillips (man in charge of the operation)..It may be slow paced for some viewers and I thought it was just okay.
Certainly not to be watched again but recommended if you like this type of thriller.
