Review of The Killing$ of Tony Blair (2016) by Asif A — 27 Jul 2016
This gripping narrative on the political rise, crash and conduct of Tony Blair is 2016's Fahrenheit 9/11. The forensic deconstruction of Blair and his actions leading up to, during, and since the Iraq war are laid bare against his public protestations of innocence and PR guff.
Blair's complete disregard of his party, cabinet and rule of law are exposed. As are the gargantuan scale of Blair's earnings since his demise and the lack of ethics in his international 'consultancy' projects, which are beyond shameless.
The editing and sequencing of archive footage is compelling - poignant, disturbing, haunting and heart breaking at times, whilst satirically humerous at others. This footage, punctuated by cutting insight from the interviewees and the narrative commentary, will leave viewers in no doubt as to how history should judge Blair, and how his actions still influence today's political landscape.
This is a great film, a must see.
