Review of The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) by Yash B — 14 Apr 2018
"The Killing of a Sacred Deer" is undeniably an absurd and strange movie that for the most part, doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. You could make the case that a lot of the events in this story are meant to metaphorical, but it still doesn't make the experience any less strange.
Despite all of the ludicrous moments, it is still a fascinating film to watch. For some reason, I found myself unable to stop watching. When compared to Yorgos Lanthimos' previous film, "The Lobster," this movie has a much more challenging story arc to follow.
I don't think this film is quite as good as his previous entry, but I think fans of his bizarre style will find enjoyment in it. It's not a film I plan on ever seeing again, but it delivered a few hours of scenes that while made zero sense, were also fascinating to watch at times.
