Review of The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) by Susan W — 30 Dec 2017
A transgressive examination of guilt that moves glacially like the clinical existential thrillers of Michael Haneke. Yorgos Lanthimos once again probes the dysfunction of an upper-class family (with the precision of a scalpel knife) and spares no effort in indulging in provocative imagery and metaphysical absurdism, going straight for the jugular.
Once again, if you buy into Lanthimos's style, great. If not, steer clear.
