Review of The Killing Fields (1984) by Sheldon S — 21 Jul 2008
A very moving story, and having it be based on a true story really helped confirm the movie's accountability. Unfortunately, this movie cannot become one of the all-time greats, or even the temporary great because of some major flaws.
Half the movie is cambodians talking to each other in their own language, and there are no subtitles? What was supposed to be the point of that? Even when they were speaking in english there seemed to be an extreme lack of dialogue.
Things also happened much to fast, with no transition or explanation at all. Certainly not the best vietnam war movie out there.
