Review of The Killing Fields (1984) by Jason W — 28 Jun 2011
I'm not usually one to dock a great film a point on account of its score/soundtrack, but I did find the music to be distractingly bad at certain intervals, particularly in the first half of the movie when the music would have sounded more appropriate to the background of an old "Lost in Space" episode.
Also, who among the viewers of this movie didn't groan when "Imagine" kicked up at the end of the flick? That said, this is one of the most brutal and emotional war films ever made and the bulk of it holds up well.
You'd be hard to come by a more realistic account, and its journalistic story gives it an almost documentary vibe that really brings you in.
