Review of The Killing (1956) by Geoff G — 22 Mar 2008
This mixed chronology heist gone wrong is most certainly the prelude to Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Kubrick shows talent at a young age in this film, which many consider the "start" to his career, although it is not his first film.
This may indeed be the start, if it is the first to hint at the things he would most excel at later in his career: script, photography, direction, and all-around reinvention of moviemaking.
