Review of The Killing (1956) by Martin T — 22 Jul 2008
Light on the Kubrick touch, but a very watchable little film noir. Not a perfect movie, but a really good one. Kubrick's eye as a still photographer definitely works to his advantage here, some of the lighting setups and compositions are fantastic.
Also the fractured narrature structure is interesting, and bonus points for one hell of an evil femme fatale and just a hint of homosexual subtext.
