You wanna watch a perfect movie, you watch this fucking movie. That's all there is to it. I don't know why I went so long without seeing this. I guess I assumed that because it was early Kubrick, it would be uneven or something. I'm stupid like that sometimes.

It is fucking frightening that a 28-year-old man made this noir masterpiece. The acting is top notch, the cinematography is up there with the best I've ever seen, and the pace is smooth as silk. This is an incredible screenplay too. I'd really like to read this. It's a perfect example of how to do a robbery/heist movie. You watch this and then you watch Heat (which I've always disliked, but lets say you're one of those people who likes it) and it's like day and night. There's no denying that this is the way you're supposed to do a movie like this, and that every other way is full of shit.

This could be my favorite Kubrick movie, because it's so damn watchable. I could watch this again immediately. I don't know any other of his movies I could say that about. Sure they're good, but if this were playing at an all-day movie house like there used to be back in the day, this is a movie I could see myself watching like 5 times in a row.
