Review of The Killing (1956) by Patryk C — 25 Jul 2012
A pentacle for crime cinema and what I believe to be a very influential film as far as heist pictures go. Not only was this a staple in the development of Kubrick's career, it managed to take the idea of putting together a group of characters with a wide range of style and personality and entered them into the concept of robbing a horse race track.
It never bores you and carries a style that was much unseen at the time. It introduced a level of grit and menacing presence that was quite before its time. The finale is absolutely great!
