Review of The Killing (1956) by Leonard F — 17 Aug 2009
The Killing focuses on the plan for the heist instead of the heist itself to emphasize on how a perfect plan can unexpectedly go wrong. Johnny is always on the move making sure every piece of the puzzle is intact, while when we see the perspectives of the other members involved we slowly see how disaster could strike for the perfect crime.
The Killing achieves its goal and is very interesting from the start and only grows more interesting as the story moves on. If anything, Stanley Kubrick sure knew how to make an ending to a film.
