Review of The Killing (1956) by Jake G — 02 Nov 2009
THE KILLING is Kubrick's razor sharp entry in the film noir canon. Although not quite good enough to warrant a 100% (my opinion), it is excellent minor Kubrick that is rich in red herrings and suspense.
Kubrick's famous juxtaposition of the horse race is brilliant even now, and I can imagine sitting up and taking notice if I had seen it in '56.
