Review of The Killing (1956) by Alex R — 17 Nov 2010
An all out early masterpiece from the master himself Stanley Kubrick that sets a new standard for the crime film. A man plans out the execution of a robbery at a horse race track that invovled multiple men to carry it out. Of course things don't go completely.
To plane as one of the crooks spills the beans to his wife, who in turn spills the beans to her boyfriend who wants to doublecross her husband. The realism in the film is what makes it look and seem so timeless, if it wasn't for the hair styles and the clothes the viewer would not be able to tell that this film is actually over fifty years old.
