Review of The Killing (1956) by Grayson S — 31 Dec 2012
Brilliantly directed and perfectly orchestrated heist masterpiece. Kubrick's first true prime opera shines thanks to Windsor as a stunning femme fatale, a breathtaking character development and, mostly, a brilliant screenplay structure few would dare to attempt by the time. The auteur's visual signature can already been found throughout, employing the camera for highlighting the human condition and the irrevocably unfathomable set of consequential events derived from the oh-so-unstoppable ambitions of the banal mankind. A unique film-noir that unprecedentedly changed the priorities of the genre.
98/100.
