Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Adam M — 04 Dec 2010
Performance and script wise this was an exellent film and couldn't be faulted. It has some very graphically violent scenes that appalled me but were somehow quite gripping in the circumstances. I really thought that Casey Affleck was the dispicable character he portrayed, which proves his ability as an actor beyond doubt.
Where the film falls down I think is with the plot line which was a little convoluted and stretched credibility at times. I also was not sure what point the film was trying to make. It just seemed to me to be a demonstration of how upbringing contributes to forming someone who is criminally insane and how that person can so easily pass himself off as a normal member of society and even someone in a position of authority.
I couldn't help feeling that it was maybe allegorical in some way, but I couldn't quite get it if that was the case and could therefore not score it higher. If the plot and message in the film had been easier to spot with maybe a few twists and turns then it would have been 5 stars.
