Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Bill B — 09 Jan 2012
Yes, you are not imagining things. I have given a film four stars! This pulp novel was originally filmed in 1976 but have not seen that version. But I can certainly say that this one is mesmerisingly horrible.
Casey Affleck (brother of ass-faced Ben) gives a creepy performance as the frankly psychotic Sherriff's deputy who gets involved with a prostitute then murders her along with a leading businessman's son.
From then on all sorts of twists and turns are thrown out and you do have to follow the plot closely. The tension builds as more killings occur and the viewer wonders if Affleck will get away with them.
The whole movie spirals toward an explosive ending. Indeed, the whole thing is so dark and downright nasty that you may well need to go look at photos of fluffy kittens for a few hours afterwards. Best film I have seen this year so far.
Do not see it if you're easily disturbed or squeamish.
