Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Crystal C — 08 Dec 2010
Spoilers!
There's nothing like a man who can wear a cowboy hat, say "m'am," and still beats the shi*# out of you. Well, actually there is... Casey Affleck portrays such a sociopath in the movie, The Killer Inside Me. In this film, Lou Ford, (Casey Affleck) is a lawman who kills people mainly because "they can't see it coming." He kills Joyce Lakeland (Jessica Alba) the prostitute that he professes to love, a high school friend, a young boy, his fiancée (Kate Hudson), and others for less than five hundred dollars and to settle a grudge.
I enjoyed the setting of this movie and the acting, but I did not like the material itself because it didn't add anything to my understanding of a sociopath. If you want to see a great, disturbing movie about a sociopath watch Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. That said, I enjoyed the performances in TKIM. I'm a huge Casey Alleck fan and he delivers again and again. Jessica Alba was also competent in her role. I disliked the sexual violence in this film primarily because it seemed superfluous. And I thought the ending in particular was disappointing. I enjoyed the music and loved the setting, though!
