Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Paul P — 02 Nov 2010
A neat little noir tale that is driven by Affleck's excellent presence.
The story itself is quite simple and there are plenty of recognisable character types peppered throughout the film. Where the film differentiates itself is in the focus on Affleck's character Lou Ford. It has been a while since I have seen a film where a charatcer feels this truly insane. The small flashbacks to his childhood which try to inform his actions as an adult are clever but a lot can be seen just from Affleck's eyes. When this is coupled with several scenes of genuinely shocking violence, it makes for quite an experience. His work here is terrific.
The supporting cast are on good form, especially Elias Koteas and the wonderful Ned Beatty (has this guy ever turned in a bad performance?).
Overall, Winterbottom has pulled together a great little flick...
