Review of The Kids Are All Right (2010) by Chrissy P — 15 Jul 2011
The premise seemed cheesy to me when I read it, but the film was far from it. I felt like the intense topic of finding one's sperm donor to be handled well, and the emotional fallout within the family brilliantly written.
I really liked the way the film never made a real issue out of the lesbian moms, but presented their marriage with extreme truth--they weren't stereotyped or exaggerated but shown as a typical married couple with kids struggling to maintain a changing relationship.
The lead actresses were superb, but the kids were the real show-stealers; they both showed talent beyond their years. I highly recommend!
