Review of The Kids Are All Right (2010) by Sreedhar K — 12 Aug 2011
Although not a straight movie to watch for more reasons than the obvious one, it sure makes a point or two quite effectively. The most significant of which is the one made by Julianne Moore's character about 'appreciation' (for what our loved ones do to us).
We don't take the time and make the efforts to appreciate, and yet we keep wondering why (they are turning away from us). The movie is not without its share of insincere and gratuitous elements (including the title, which are thrown in perhaps to please its gay audience), but, is nevertheless a well-made, and highly well-acted, drama about human relations.
It takes the safer of the two alternatives for the difficult ending. Or, does it?
