Review of The Kids Are All Right (2010) by Lauren A — 16 Aug 2011
Half way through this movie I found myself liking it (even though I disagree with the lifestyle) and I thought to myself this was worthy of it's Oscar nomination...then all of a sudden the feminist subplot took effect and the most likable character in the movie (which just so happens to be a male portrayed superbly by Mark Ruffalo) is turned into a terrible human being for the sole purpose of showing that Lesbian couples are strong and that even though a biological father created their children he should have no place in their future.
Even though the true life lesbian director Lisa Cholodenko was so quick to dismiss the fact that without a MALE no children could ever be given to a lesbian couple she still did an amazing job at directing this slow moving movie and giving true depth to the characters.
