Review of The Kids Are All Right (2010) by Andy S — 06 Apr 2012
While this is a well made film, I still have strong reservations about it. Great performances all around peppered with some very funny scenes and very touching scenes. In the end though it really bugged me that they are trying to sell this great "gay" family while one of the partners went pretty far off the reservation.
Is gay a porous term? At one point Annette Bening asks Julianne Moore if she is "straight now". What? IF you are so damn "gay" then arent you "gay"? It's very confusing to me and really casts a shadow over this movie.
A well made film, with some questionable motives. ... in my opinion.
