Review of The Kid with a Bike (2011) by Andres B — 04 May 2012
I believe this is the first and only film I've ever watched that captivated me so overwhelmingly and yet I literally fell asleep. During my career as a human, I've clocked over a thousand films and have written an equal amount of reviews.
Though to be honest, I have not fallen asleep in a movie theater since I was 11 years old watching The Lord of the Rings for the 5th time in a theater (it was the kissing scene so it was hard for a 11 year old kid to stay awake anyway.
So, back to "The Kid with a Bike"... this film is a true heartbreaker though its entertainment value lies solely in its emotional punch. I was entertained and enjoyed the film, though after viewing it I didn't feel happy whatsoever.
This aftertaste of satisfaction with no existing closure is what "The Kid with a Bike" has to offer along with fantastic performances across the board. This is not the feel good film of the year, but you will feel better about yourself for watching it.
