Review of The Kid with a Bike (2011) by Matthew D — 21 Dec 2012
The Kid with a Bike is wonderfully acted by the wholly believable Thomas Doret as the troubled Cyril, a character who is gullible enough to believe that his selfish father will ever care, and whom doesn't recognise real love, even when Samantha(Cecile de France)'s love for him is so strong, a love he needs badly to ease the hurt inside of him.
Despite the fact they are many great French performers in this heartfelt film, Thomas Doret is the best. He is a promising young performer in which I hope to see more of. Meanwhile, Cecile de France's Samantha is a kind hearted character who won't give up Cyril.
de France performs her character with talent and appreciation for Cyril. There isn't much in the dialogue, but you don't need it because it's just actions. Still, it's a tenderly made, charming foreign film.
