Review of The Kid with a Bike (2011) by Paul B — 18 Aug 2013
A beautifully directed story of an 11 year old boy in state care who finds friendship & love with his weekend foster carer. Brilliantly understated acting & minimalist direction make the emotional moments feel more heightened & powerful to give you the sense of just how it feels to the characters playing this out.
Some excellent scenes, & some that will take you by surprise, this is a solid Dardenne movie albeit not one of their very best, but that's still a lot better than most.
