Review of The Kid (2000) by Mark F — 19 Jan 2016
It's a good premise but I'm not totally sure I knew what was going on here. How did the kid get into the future again? How did the old guy at the end make all this happen? Did enough really happen to Russ to cause such a dramatic turnaround from jerk to great guy? Why did he go to a random newswoman he once met on a plane to get enlightenment? Maybe most puzzlingly, how on earth did Russ win Amy over at the end in light of all his preceding jerkiness? Just because he was holding a puppy? Is that what it was?
Despite the confusion and the missing answers, it's still a decent watch. Bruce Willis is really good, the kid's kind of annoying but less annoying than you'd think, and there's a happy ending in there. Not bad.
