Review of The Keeping Room (2014) by Howard T — 26 Dec 2015
A truly orignal look at life from a different perspective during the Civil War; the perspective of 3 women struggling to survive with all the men gone to war. It starts slow (but necessary, you need to understand the relationships and how they change), and builds to a tense finale.
The film is brutal at times and I understand the complaints that the film is too slow, but I didn't find this an issue as I found the pace intriguing and tense as I felt the stress building. Great performances.
Good film.
