Review of The Keep (1983) by Patrick H — 04 Nov 2009
It could have been so much more. The Keep is full of great moments but unfortunately they don't add up to anything substantial. It's a shame too because this movie has all of the right elements: Nazis, ancient evil, ancient good, forbidden knowledge, and exploding bodies.
There is one good thing- this film has more great actors than any in recent memory. Ian McKellen, Gabriel Byrne, Jurgen Prochnow, and many more make their appearances but somehow it doesn't manage to save the plot from withering away.
In any case, if you can find this cheap (I believe it's still only found on VHS) then by all means pick it up.
