Review of The Karate Kid Part II (1986) by Claire T — 09 Nov 2012
Daniel travels with Mr. Miyagi to the latter's native Okinawa, where he again runs into trouble in the form of Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and develops a romantic relationship with local cutie Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita).
It's all familiar, just with a different setting. The presence of karate is toned down and even with its writer, director and two main stars back on board, this sequel fails to create the same chemistry and magic as the original.
