Review of The Karate Kid (2010) by Andrew F — 31 Jan 2012
With countless cringe-worthy lines and a long-winded build up, Karate Kid seems destined to fail. Not so, says your brain at the end of the movie. Incredible action and expert cinematography make the finale as exciting and gut-wrenching as you could want.
The question whether or not sitting through the first hour is worth the end. Excellent stunts by mini-Smith, but not excellent acting. Jackie Chan pulled the bulk of my attention during the film, and delivers a James Dean-esque line at the perfect moment with the aplomb of any accomplished veteran actor, not just action star.
3 stars.
