Review of The Karate Kid (1984) by Zach G — 12 Mar 2010
When Daniel LaRusso moves with his mother to Reseda, he becomes picked on by a group of bullies. The leader of the group happens to be the ex-boyfriend of the girl Daniel likes. He knows a little karate and goes to the local dojo to try out but sees that the bullies are students there. After the bullies attack him one night, Mr. Miyagi, the immigrant from Okinawan who is a repairman, comes to his aide. Seeing that Mr. Miyagi knows karate, Daniel ask him to teach him. They go to the dojo and decides the only way to settle the conflict is to enter the All Valley Karate Tournament in a couple of months. Mr. Miyagi trains Daniel by first having him do chores around the yard and house to sharpen his quickness and reflexes. Then the train hard for Daniel to enter. When the Tournament arrives, Daniel starts off really good defeating his opponents. He makes it to the final four where the rival dojo master tries to hurt him through his students using illegal kicks and shots. Daniels is somehow able to make it to the finals and defeats his foe to win the tournament and prove himself.
This is a real inspirational movie. It is the Rocky for younger kids and a classic you must watch to enjoy.
