Review of The Karate Kid (1984) by Eric K — 15 May 2010
Classic stuff that has a timeless quality because of the themes and the fact the performances are so good. Like all the best films its about friendship, a kind of doc brown marty mcfly friendship between macchio (who is the kind of likeable high school geezer character you just dont get anymore - nowadays yer get robert pattisons and zac effrons who just ooze arrogance) and the legendary pat morrita.
The karate stuff isnt what its about, its a real tale of hiw friendship can make you stronger. Like the montage song says - Its the best, the beeeeesssstttt.
