Review of The Karate Kid (1984) by Johnny C — 06 Oct 2010
Surprisingly good film that depicts a compelling battle between good and evil. The ?80s features like its soundtrack, costumes and dialogue completely add to its charm. Avildsen is able to get great, naturalistic performances from most of the cast with the exception of Morita whose performance is definitely not Oscar worthy and would seem embarrassing and offensive if he wasn?t likeable enough to pull it off.
I am surprised I have not seen this nearly flawless film before.
