Review of The Karate Kid (1984) by Brendan F — 05 Sep 2014
On every aspect does this movie exceed at every level. Not only is it a martial arts movie, but it also has the elements of a coming of age story, romance, drama, comedic moments, and not to mention some great choreography throughout the entire movie (especially for the tournament scenes).
Every actor feeds off of each other so well that it comes off as very natural and real. Morita especially shines in his title role as Mr. Miyagi, as well as Macchio as he works fantastically along side him.
The Cobra Kai group also brings a menacing presence about them as they come off as intimidating and straight up D bags. Overall, this movie teaches so many lessons and will continue to be watched with generations to come.
