The problems with this movie are threefold:
Foremost, while the child actor had great physical (and facial) acting, every time he opened his mouth, it was terrible.
Secondly, the musical pieces felt completely out of place, even though they were obvious references to the original.
The songs highlighted the fact that the film didn't know if if it was trying to recreate the book or the 1960's original animated film.
And thirdly, the world building was too weak to uphold the plot.
In summary, It wasn't that bad.
