Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Late R — 16 Aug 2017

Considering 'The Jungle Book' was one of my favourite Disney movies as a kid, I have to admit that I was sceptical about it translating well into live-action. Sure, having Jon Favreau at the helm was promising, but how could they possibly bring this to life without being extremely, well, bad. The answer is with dazzling CGI sets, an amazing voice cast and a good effort from newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli; they not only made it possible, but did it to a degree that would be difficult to improve upon. Sure, the CGI isn't quite photo-realistic yet and the whole thing was missing the familiar light-hearted, silly feel to it that the original animated classic had (although the scene with Baloo and Mowgli singing 'Bear Necessities' captured it perfectly), it was still pretty darn good.

Great effort Disney, looking forward to more live-action stuff.
