Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Ryan C — 30 Nov 2016
Director Jon Favreau blends the original Disney animated film with the classic tales of Rudyard Kipling to create a remarkable live-action edition of "The Jungle Book." With some of the most visually stunning CGI, Favreau transports you directly to the African jungle with Mowgli, a boy that is being raised by a pack of wolves, and his other animal friends.
Sure it is exactly the same story we've all watched before, but the beautiful CGI that is used takes the story to a much more surreal higher level. When you see Shere Khan fight Bagheera, it straight up looks like a real tiger fighting a real panther; that is how incredible the special effects are.
Neel Sethi (Mowgli) is adorable, but not great. However, the rest of the voice over cast is super talented. Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, and Scarlett Johansson all do a great job lending their voice to their characters, but Bill Murray is definitely the best. He voices the lovable Baloo with so much energy and humor, that you will absolutely enjoy his performance.
There are many thrilling moments in this family-oriented story backed by remarkable CGI that make this edition of "The Jungle Book" a smashing hit.
