Review of The Judge (2014) by Maggie B — 18 Jul 2015
I can see why this one splatted with critics and why it was more favorable in the audience's estimation. It's too Hollywood and tidy. I can see the damage done from one parent, the lost dreams, the arrogance and refusing to connect with one of those parents for years.
The film can't seem to get itself in a place of believable moments. I cried at times as I feel I know all too well the sense of having to prove myself through the years. It's not a total waste of time.
It's just that so much more could've been done to elevate this to a dam fine film worth watching again and again.
