Review of The Judge (2014) by Joseph F — 08 Dec 2014
An excellent father son story. The father is a perfectionist highly qualified and opinionated pillar of the community who is a Judge. He also has a bit of holier than thou to him apparently balanced by his wife in his all to traditional home.
The son has a disruptive wild side and raises more daily angst then he is worth till his judge father decides a stay in the juvenile jail is needed. The son looses contact with his family at this point and leaves both because he cannot stand to face the errors he made while a teenager and the disappointment he is to his father.
He returns for " Shiva" at his mother's sudden death after a long absence. The rest is pure glory between Duvall and Downey two treasure s of acting. Great supporting cast. If you can identify with either roll you will love this movie.
Woman may not be so appreciative.
