Review of The Judge (2014) by First L — 11 Jul 2015
All the right ingredients for a good movie - except for a cohesive, entertaining, or interesting story.
Fantastic acting, great cast.
The story is primarily, narcissistic father refuses to accept designated black sheep child's success and continues to blather on about designated golden child's "stolen" future.
Clichéd story line of kid grows up in small town and moves to a big town to make something of his/her life, add in the narcissistic progenitor crap, as well as two or three other subplots that pretty much go nowhere fast.
Finally, the MPAA should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for giving this film an "R" rating as they continue to live in the Victorian era as far as sexuality is concerned, but feel free to add as much violence as possible and you might get a PG-13 rating. Ridiculous.
