Review of The Joy Luck Club (1993) by Steve C — 06 Oct 2007
A really good Chinese American story that explores various important themes, such as generational gap issues, cultural dissentions and ultimate compromise. Although the movie is a bit sappy at times, and exploits Asian men in a somewhat negative light, the film is nonetheless Wayne Wang's best film.
Probably his only real good movie in his career, unfortunately. Anyways, I highly recommend it.
