Review of The Joy Luck Club (1993) by Tom C — 25 Nov 2010
An amazingly well-executed adaptation of Tan's novel, this film presents the dramatic tales of four Chinese women and their American daughters in cleverly organized vignettes. At times the stories seem overdone with each character "zoning out" to bring us into a flashback.
Still, given the scope of the film and the number of characters outlined, the film does a great job of doing each story justice. Excellent ensemble cast who each bring a very unique energy to the table.
